Percy Lee is returning to Hong Kong after 8 years here in the US. We will miss you!
We celebrated the baptism of Emmu Zhou on December 16th. Congratulations Emmu!
This month a team of us went to help out at the SF Food Bank. A great time together! If you have time, the Food Bank is a great place to serve and help out. They need volunteers 7 days a week. You can sign up at https://www.sfmfoodbank.org/volunteer/
The youth basketball team ended the post-season with a win to secure 5th place in their division with a 3-4 record. There were some pretty close games that could have easily tipped that record to 5-2 but we'll just have to wait for next year!
The high scorer for this game was Kalen Williams with 15 points, 3 steals. A close second was Jalen Belton with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 blocked shot. Nick Wong hit 5 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Nathan Pen contributed 5 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Ryan Lau hit 3 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Aniyah Santiago played some tough defense, creating turnovers and grabbed 1 rebound.
Great job to Coach Jimmy! Thanks for all your support this season and see you next year!

I would love to write that the college guys finished with a win, but the second best thing I can write is that the college guys went down fighting. They definitely played their hearts out for their last game but were defeated by Presbyterian Church in Chinatown 43-51. This is definitely a game worth watching.
Brian Regis had the high score this game! He really finished the season strong, hitting 3 three-point shots and a basket for 11 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Kevin Bowman had another fine game with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 1 blocked shot. Kevin Chow also finished the season strong with 6 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal. Sadik Twal put to use his great height and snagged a season high 10 rebounds, 1 blocked shot and 1 assist and scoring 6 points. Jacky Guan put in 5 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Derrick Tat hit a 3 point shot and grabbed 2 rebounds. Christian Szeto had 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Tony Wong hit one free throw. Defensively, Lemuel Chan had 1 blocked shot, 1 rebound. Matt Kwong had 1 blocked shot and 1 rebound.
Great effort to the team and to Coach Tony! Looking forward to seeing you all next summer!
Monday's game was a heart-breaker. Our youth team was playing the division's undefeated team, Hope EFC. After our team got to a quick lead, Hope EFC was able to catch up and the whole game was a seesaw match, in terms of the lead. At the half, SFEFC was leading 17-13.
The second half was much the same as the first, with the lead changing hands often. In the last minute, Hope EFC was able to tie the game and the game went into overtime. No one scored in the overtime, so it went into sudden death. Hope EFC put up a three point shot that went in and SFEFC was defeated 30-33. Our team really battled it out and I'm proud of the way that they played.
Jalen Belton had a solid game, scoring 8 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. Nick Wong had a terrific game scoring the first 3-points and another 6 points in the 2nd half along with 1 rebound and 1 steal. Kalen Williams had a good game with 6 points, 1 steal and 3 rebounds. Ryan Lau was a bit quiet this game but still sunk a 3-pointer and had 1 rebound and 1 steal. Ethan Hom hit his first 3-pointer of the season! Calvin Ng hit 2 points and 2 steals. Defensively, Aniyah Santiago had 1 steal and Jerry Huang had 1 rebound.
The guys have one more game next week but we aren't sure of the schedule yet. Keep checking the Home page, the date and time will be listed. Thanks for all your support!
I'm happy to report that the Gold team got their first win of the season on Wednesday night! Three guys each scored 11 points in the win. SFEFC was ahead the whole game but the West Portal team didn't go down easily. West Portal only had five guys but they played hard and didn't give our team an easy win, 56-53.
Jonathan Ching, Brian Regis and Jacky Guan each scored 11 points. Jonathan also grabbed 4 rebounds and one steal. Jacky hit three 3-point shots and a basket for his 11 points and also had 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Brian also hit three 3-point shots and a basket and grabbed 1 rebound.
Kevin Bowman had the high score with 14 points, 5 of which came from free throws. Great job making those count, Bowman! He also grabbed 3 rebounds an 1 steal. Rounding out the scoring, Christian Szeto hit one 3-point shot and a basket for 5 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals. Kevin Chow hit a basket and a free throw, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. Emmu Zhou hit one free throw. Defensively, Matt Kwong had 1 rebound and 1 steal and Tony Wong grabbed 2 rebounds.
Next week you have two opportunities to see the guys in action. They are playing on Wednesday at 6:30p at MLK Middle School and Friday at 7:30p.
Our youth team started off great with a quick three-pointer by Nick Wong, followed by two free throws from Jalen Belton to get started with a 7 point lead. However Cornerstone Trinity played some tough defense, playing a full-court press for the entire game. This kept the game close and the halftime score was 11-13. But the tough Cornerstone defense wore down our team and they ended up losing 22 to 38.
Jalen Belton was kept to only 9 points but grabbed 8 rebounds and had 2 blocked shots. Kalen Williams had a good first game coming off an injury, scoring 5 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal. Nick Wong had another good game with 4 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Nathan Pen scored two points and grabbed 8 rebounds and 1 steal. Continuing with the great defense, Ryan Lau had 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Aniyah Santiago had 1 rebound, Jerry Huang had 3 rebounds and 1 steal and Ethan Hom had one steal.

Come out to the next game on Monday July 23rd at 8:30pm. Thanks to everyone who represented from Day Camp and the CCU Gold Team!
I definitely have to give props to our CCU Gold team for their game this past Wednesday night. What looked to be a blowout by Golden Gate Christian Reform Church ended up to be a thrilling come from behind game. Our guys were down 18 to 33 at halftime but at the end of the game Jonathan Ching had a chance to tie the game with a three point shot, but the basket fell after the buzzer and the guys were defeated 49 to 53. But what a game!
Jonathan was back to his usual game, hitting three 3-point shots and a bucket for a total of 11 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Brian Regis finally came alive and hit three 3-point shots and a bucket, also scoring 11 points. Christian Szetu continues to play well hitting one 3-point shot, 2 baskets and a free throw for a total of 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Kevin Bowman played a solid game, hitting 4 points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds. Jacky Guan had a terrific 2nd half scoring 4 points and grabbing 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Tony Wong didn't enter the game until the last few minutes but scored 4 points (including two free throws) with 1 steal and 1 rebound. Matt Kwong hit an AND 1 for 3 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring, Sadik Twal scored 2 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals and Kevin Chow hit one basket and grabbed 3 rebounds. Defensively, Derrick Tat grabbed 2 rebounds, Emmu Zhou had 3 rebounds and 1 steal, and Wenkai Wen had 1 steal.
Come out and watch these guys play next Wednesday at 8:30p July 18th at MLK Middle School!
Another tough loss, this time against a very good West Portal Lutheran team. The game was pretty much neck and neck the whole time until the very end when SFEFC lost steam and West Portal pulled ahead for the win, 52-57.
However, Jalen Belton scored a tremendous 32 points in the loss, also grabbing 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Calvin Ng had his best game of the season scoring 9 points with one 3 point shot, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist. Ryan Lau had a great game as well scoring 7 points with one 3 point shot, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Nick Wong was held to only 2 points and grabbed 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. Jerry Huang played really well, contributing 2 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.
Their next game is on Monday July 16th at 9:30p at Holy Trinity. Looking forward to our team coming back and finishing the season strong. Thanks again to strong support from the College team and Day Camp counselors!
Here is a clip of the highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR98agiKOWg
This one was a nail-biter! The City Impact team led most of the game up until the end when SFEFC was able to tie the score. But unfortunately City Impact inched ahead by one point and even though we had a chance to win it, the basket would not fall in the end and SFEFC was defeated 33 to 34.
It was a great game with lots of highlights. Jalen Belton continues to be the big scorer with 15 points including 4 three-point shots for a total of 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Nick Wong had a great night scoring 8 points with 1 three-point shot, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. Nate Pen also had a terrific game scoring 8 points with an AND 1, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
Ryan Lau had a quiet scoring game with only 2 points but had 8 rebounds and 2 steals! Calvin Ng grabbed 1 rebound, 1 steal, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot. Ethan Hom grabbed 2 rebounds and 1 steal.Jerry Huang had 1 rebound and Aniyah Santiago had 1 steal and 1 rebound.
It was great to see the College team and Day Camp Counselors come and support us - thanks!

The guys have a bit of a break until their next game on July 11th. See you there!
SFEFC's Frosh/Soph team is continuing their winning ways with a 2nd victory this past Monday night. The game started off a little tough when Nazarene's players kept hitting 3 point shots like crazy. SFEFC was down by quite a few in the beginning. But our team didn't give up and by halftime they had caught up and were ahead by 1 point. Ryan Lau grabbed a rebound and put in the basket for the go ahead shot at the end of the 1st half, 18 to 17.
In the 2nd half, the team pulled ahead and never looked back winning 44 to 27. Jalen Belton had another fantastic game scoring 23 points, 4 rebounds, 9 steals and 2 assists. Nick Wong had a great game as well scoring 6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Nathan Pen had 6 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Ryan Lau also had another good game contributing 5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 assists. Ethan Hom had 2 assists and 1 steal. Great game team! Our next game is Monday 6/25 at 8:30p
The SFEFC Gold team went down in defeat on Friday 20 to 33 against Cumberland, but there were definitely some highlights. The scoring was fairly evenly distributed.
Kevin Chow had a great game with 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Kevin Bowman had another strong game with 4 points, 2 rebounds and 4 steals. Come for our next game on Wednesday 6/20 at 6:30pm!
I love In-And-Out hamburgers, but in and out shots are frustrating. Unfortunately in our gold team's first game there were a lot of good shots that just wouldn't fall.
This was coach Tony Wong's first game. Tony is in a long line of hallowed basketball players who step up into the coaching role. Thanks Tony for being willing to do this for the team!
The guys started off well with the lead, but that evaporated quickly when Hope Lutheran put on the man to man defense. As stated previously, the shots weren't falling for us, but did for our opponents and SFEFC was defeated 49 to 36.
Definitely a bright spot for the team was Jonathan Ching who hit FOUR 3-point shots plus an AND 1 for a total of 15 points. Sadik Twal also had a great game hitting 3 baskets plus 2 free throws for a total of 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 blocked shot and 1 steal. Kevin Bowman also put in a strong showing with a 3-point shot and and a basket for 5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist.
Rounding out the scoring, Kevin Chow hit one basket but also grabbed 9 rebounds and 1 steal. Wenkai Wen had one basket and 1 rebound. Matt Kwong had one basket and 1 assist. Defensively Brian Regis grabbed 3 rebounds and Derrick Tat had 1 rebound.
Looking forward to our next game this Friday at 8:30p at Martin Luther King Middle School. See you there!
