The Reason for the Season

How did you celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend?  Was it with family and friends and lots of great food?  Did you also   participate in   the start of the holiday shopping season known as "Black Friday"?

The sermon text for this past Sunday was John 18:28-40.  Even though this isn't a very "holiday season" passage (maybe the closest holiday it could be related to is Easter), Jesus says something that I've glanced over many times but in this season is very important.  In John 18:37 Jesus tells Pilate, "The reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth.  Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

The reason for Jesus' birth was to testify to the truth.  What truth?  The truth that there is a God who created us, loves us and sent his Son to save us.  The truth that there is more to this life than just living and dying and that because of Christ, we have the promise of an eternal life with God!

Now that's great reason to celebrate this season.  May Jesus be the King of your life today and all throughout this holiday.  Please join us on Sundays at 8:45 am. and celebrate with us!
