Pastor Alvin Louie continued his series on Philippians this Sunday, by preaching on Philippians 4:2-9. In this passage, the Apostle Paul gives some encouragement to the Philippian church about how to resolve conflict. Paul tells them to address the problem. He directly speaks to the two women in conflict and then he states the goal. The goal is to "agree with each other in the Lord." Other Bible translations say "to be of the same mind in the Lord." Paul then offers a way to the solution. He asks one of the members of the Philippian church to help them (Philippians 4:3).
When we are not in conflict, we are truly able to rejoice and have peace with God. The five exhortations to peaceful living in Philippians 4:4-7 are to be: joyful, gentle, anxiety-free, prayerful, and thankful.
When conflict occurs in the church, there is no peace. When we take everything to God in prayer, there is overwhelming peace. When we practice the Word of God, the God of peace will be with you.
May you have a conflict-free and peaceful week in Christ!
