On March 24, 2013, we were privileged to have our very own Mr. Eric Kwong share God’s Word with us. Eric preached a message from Genesis 1:26-27. In this passage, humankind is declared to be made in the image of God. But what is this image? What is the context of this image? What is the purpose of this image?
An image can be described as a copy of an original. Genesis tells us that we are made in the image of God – which means we are not the original. But we inherited a perfect image.
The context of this image is that we are made in the image of a holy God. If you know you are a member of a royal family, you feel good. You have a noble character.
We also have a purpose. We are made in the image of God to “rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky…over all the creatures that move along the ground.” This is not about power, but about ruling responsibly and in a caring manner.
Do you realize that you are created in the image of holy and loving God? May you live out your true purpose of being an image bearer of God this week.
