Our SFEFC team posted its first win Wednesday night in a decisive 41-33 victory! The score was pretty evenly matched throughout the game but the guys started pulling ahead at the end. This was a big relief for us fans, from the nail-biting loss of the first game. Tony Wong continued on his scoring streak with a season high 19 total points. He scored 1 three point shot, 5 buckets and maybe even most importantly, 6 points in free throws. He only missed his first two free throws but after that went a perfect 6 for 6.
Harrison Beuerman and Corey French were back this week and each contributed 4 points to the total. It was nice having our big guys again with Harrison grabbing 3 rebounds and Corey with 2 rebounds and a season high 3 blocked shots.
Jonathan Ching came out of his shell this week and did great, scoring 4 points and grabbing 3 rebounds. Matt Kwong takes the "rebound machine" title this week with 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 2 points.
Everyone on the team contributed to the win: Emmu continued with his defensive dominance with 3 rebounds and 1 steal, Calvin had good hustle with 1 rebound and 1 steal and Albert also grabbed a rebound.
Unfortunately Tony Wong went down late in the 2nd half with a twisted ankle which is still swollen today. Please pray that it isn't serious and heals quickly. Thankfully the team has a bye next week since they will be doing the refereeing and score-keeping.
Also we are sad to say goodbye to Jason Ching for the rest of the season. We are glad that Jason was chosen to participate in an internship program at Stanford University but it means that he won't be able to play in any more games. We'll miss you Jason. We will definitely need everyone to step up their game and looking forward to Lemuel's and Gilbert's return.
See you all at the next game on July 3rd!
