[CCU BASKETBALL] Strength in Numbers

CCU Basketball is back! The guys played their first game on Tuesday at South San Francisco High School against Hope Lutheran. Both teams were scoreless for awhile because of first game jitters, but then our guys started getting hot. They went into a 15-0 lead.

But then Hope Lutheran's best player started getting warmed up and by halftime SFEFC led 21 to 13. In the second half, SFEFC continued to add points steadily but Hope Lutheran's one man team closed the gap and tied the game.

In the end however, SFEFC proved that there is strength in numbers and SFEFC won 42 to 36. We do have to give credit though to Hope Lutheran's best player who scored 24 of their 36 points, making SIX three point shots.

Everyone on SFEFC's team though contributed to the win. High scorer was Jacky Guan with 12 points (two 3-point baskets), 6 rebounds and 1 steal. Jonathan Ching played a great game at point guard sinking 9 points (one 3 point basket), 1 rebound and 2 steals. Tony Wong contributed 8 points (2 free throws), 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Newcomer Jason Liao scored 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Yulin Deng hit 2 baskets for 4 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal. Also new to the team this year, Brian Regis hit a 3 point shot, had 1 rebound and 1 steal. Kevin Chow snagged 4 rebounds and David Dong, 2 rebounds.

Great job guys! They are always fun to watch. Come and see the next game: Saturday 9:00a Washington High School (June 11th, 2016)
